The Hutton House

Suggested donation: $250/night

A two-story ranch house, situated in a small oasis of magnificent Cottonwoods and surrounded by open prairie and grassland.

Once home to former ranch owners Harold and Lucille Hutton, this guesthouse features five bedrooms, a large kitchen, three bathrooms, a spacious living/dining area, a fireplace room, an office, front and back porches, along with wireless internet.

The setting for the Hutton House couldn’t be much better if one envisions a peaceful and idyllic “home on the range.”

Guests are likely to be serenaded with the melodious song of Western Meadowlarks throughout the spring and summer months, complemented by the songs of Dickcissels, Blue Grosbeaks, Eastern Phoebes, Barn Swallows and a diversity of other birds. Sharp-tailed Grouse often live in the meadow in front of the Hutton House in the winter. In the summer, the same place is blessed with native prairie wildflowers. Coyotes can often be heard in the evening, around sunset, and White-tailed Deer are a common sight as they browse just beyond the Kentucky Bluegrass lawn.

This guesthouse is perfect for families, couples, or groups, particularly those seeking a modern accommodation in a natural setting, with easy access to the outdoors.

The Lazy Easy Ranch House combines comfortable simplicity with a perfect setting for exploring the diverse habitats of the sanctuary, the nearby Niobrara River and the surrounding Sandhills.

The “unplugged” guesthouse without phone or internet access features four bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, and a large living and dining room, all of which exude warmth, relaxation and simple charm.

Guests can unwind on the front porch swing, or enjoy the quiet and solitude provided by the surrounding groves of shady trees, shelterbelts of Cottonwood and Red Cedar, and nearby meadows and patches of grassy pasture.

This guesthouse is perfect for families or groups to come and go from outdoor activities, as well as bicyclists, canoers, hunters who want to “put their feet up” in the evenings, or just those who want to enjoy a shady country retreat.
